Rather than waiting long periods of time for a stock to move in the anticipated direction (as in traditional buy-and-hold investing) you can multiply your profits in the same period of time with both long and short trades. Almost $10,000 more would have been made if you traded the up and down swings vs. just buying and holding this stock!
In addition, when compared to day trading, swing trading is a far more efficient trading style, as the cost of doing business is substantially lower due to commissions not being generated on a daily basis. Swing traders also tend to partake in a larger portion of price moves.
